Overhead line between Wylfa and Pentir
Our latest proposals include a detailed design for the second connection, including where individual pylons are located.
Tunnelling at the Menai Strait
We’re proposing a tunnel under the Menai Strait. We have recently submitted a marine licence application to allow us to carry out work on the tunnel under the Menai Strait. The tunnel will be around 4km long and at each end we’ve identified the locations where we will build the equipment we need to change from overhead to underground.
Explore our interactive project map of the proposals in Anglesey and Gwynedd. You can zoom into specific sections of the route and search the map by postcode.
Transport & Construction
Most of the equipment we will need will be transported on lorries (HGVs) but we'll also need some some larger vehicles such as mobile cranes and low loaders.
Updates to construction traffic routes
We’re proposing changes to some of the roads we plan to use while constructing the second connection.
Our work in West Gwynedd
Our work in West Gwynedd involves making some important upgrades to the electricity network near Porthmadog and Bryncir.
What happens next?
Thanks to everyone who took part in our consultation last year. We’re currently working on a final design, having listened to the views of residents, specialist bodies and elected representatives and taken these into account whenever we can.
